Friday Night Sound Frights + Costume Contest

Come in costume, gobble up grub and enjoy thrilling music at the Halloween-inspired Friday Night Sound Frights and costume contest.

Friday, Oct. 25
Opener: School of Rock Blue Valley playing indoors from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Band: Coldwater playing from 7 to 10 p.m.
Food truck: Irvzilla's Hawaiian Grillserving dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Chambre Coffee serving dessert from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Event schedule

5 to 9 p.m. — Food trucks on Penrose Lane
5 to 6 p.m. — Scavenger hunt in the Lenexa City Center Library
7 p.m. — Kids and family costume contest
7 to 10 p.m. — Live music by Coldwater on the Lower Commons
8 p.m. — Adult costume contest

We’re celebrating the art of dressing up! Whether you're a DIY enthusiast, a pop culture fanatic, a creature of the night, or just love to give people a laugh or a fright, this is your time to shine! Kids and family costume contest at 7 p.m. Adult costume contest at 8 p.m.

Register for any of the contests in person on the day of the event at the Public Market concierge booth. Free to participate. Prizes will be awarded for winners of each category. Must be present to win. Prizes provided by Made in KC.

About the series

Grab a friend, get some grub and groove into the weekend every Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. (through Oct. 25) outside on the Lower Commons. Watch for special themed Sound Bites throughout the season.

What to know before you attend

Outside alcohol not allowed. Purchase alcoholic beverages from merchants.
Food and drinks available to purchase.
Patio seating available but we encourage BYOC — bring your own chair.
Free to attend. No tickets/registration needed.

Parking

Free parking available onsite in the Lenexa Civic campus parking garage (17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy). Enter on Winchester Street or West 88th Street. Additionally, there is public parking in the Winchester Parking garage, west side of the Shawnee Mission Aquatic Center — enter on Winchester Street.

Inclement weather plan

We hope it doesn't rain on our Halloween party but if it does, cancellations will be announced on the Public Market website and social media channels by 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. In the case of inclement weather, this event will not be rescheduled.
